The momentum of life is a stream that leads to anonymity and mediocrity. Pushing to the banal, the water of time sweeps us to an oblivion of conformity and smothered individuality. Slipping down that river the obfuscation of self forces us into the trap of mindless careers offering comfort and security. To stand against that powerful tide takes an indomitable will. Standing against the current one must fight not just the rush of the stream but our own inclination to succumb to the flow.
To be ones own self holds so much resistance that it’s improbable to meet the honest truth of anyone. It’s that true self that once realized holds the key to personal success and a potential that reaches beyond. I am standing in the waters now, neither flowing with the current or struggling upstream. I choose to fight the stream and start my movement upstream. To no longer hold back my unique qualities to blend and flow, to stand against to push and take the first step against the river.
Choose to stand against the momentum or slink beneath the surface and ride the flow. Be you or the expectations of others. No one is ever remembered for being like everyone else. Be unapologetically you.
